Bodo Sperlein was commissioned to design a bespoke platter for the UK team, represented by chef Tom Phillips, which was showcased at the world's most prestigious culinary competition, Bocuse d'Or 2018.
The platter served as a display stand, tailored to each element of Tom's menu, as it was paraded past a distinguished panel of judges. Inspired by the Welsh hills, the tiered platter was crafted from polished metal and wood, accompanied by a set of stoneware dishes with a platinum luster glaze. These dishes, handmade in London, featured a stoneware texture reminiscent of the weathered rocks found on the hills. The platter was exhibited in Turin, where the competition took place.
