The November 2024 issue of Architectural Digest Germany features Bodo Sperlein and takes an in-depth look at the Jugendstil. Made in Munich exhibition, exploring the intricate details of his exhibition design and the renowned pieces of work on display.

"It is one of the great successes of this exhibition that Munich- and London-based artist and designer Bodo Sperlein was enlisted for the exhibition architecture. He orchestrated the reconstruction of the façade of the Studio Elvira, created a colour-coordinated organisational system that brought order to the rooms of the Kunsthalle, and designed the gracefully curved display cases and pedestals. He made chairs appear to “float” to present them in a fresh and youthful manner. Sperlein worked on the project for a year and a half. “I wanted to tell a story through the exhibition design,” says Sperlein, who himself is part of that story. As a child, he admired the Art Nouveau collection at the City Museum. Thus, the circle closes in a way that is elegant and fitting for the current times."
