CONCEPT TO LAUNCH: BILD 9
Introducing the Loewe bild 9: The Fusion of Art and Technology
Last week, we unveiled the Loewe bild 9, our latest television model that epitomises our commitment to luxury design and innovation. Here, we take you behind the scenes to explore the design philosophy, inspiration, and meticulous development that brought this statement piece to life.
Development Process:
Stage I: Initial Concepts
The initial design of the bild 9 featured a rear leg integrated into the frame for discreet cable management. This early idea balanced functionality and aesthetics, ensuring seamless cable organisation without compromising the overall design.
Stage II: Experimentation with Integrated Audio
To enhance the utility of the bild 9, we experimented with incorporating audio elements directly into the frame. Various perforation patterns were tested; however, after careful consideration, this concept was refined to maintain the minimalist elegance central to the bild 9’s identity.
Stage III: A Collaborative Refinement
Partnering with the expert team at Loewe’s Kronach facility, we pushed the limits of frame production. This collaboration led to the elimination of the rear support, resulting in a sleeker, more refined appearance. The outcome was a television that embodied both visual lightness and sophisticated design.
Modelling for Perfection
Central to the bild 9’s design was the seamless integration of cable management while maintaining a sculptural silhouette. Through countless iterations, the Loewe workshop perfected a system where cables are concealed within the frame, preserving the clean and uninterrupted lines of the television.
Exclusive Showcase
The IFA Berlin 2016 served as the ideal stage for the first public reveal of the bild 9, coinciding with the exclusive Loewe Raum event. This presentation highlighted the forward-thinking design vision of Bodo and illustrated the future of Loewe’s premium television range.
Photoshoot Collaboration
To capture the essence of the bild 9, we collaborated with Studio Small for a London-based photoshoot. Renowned photographer Jake Curtis and set designer Hana Al Sayed, known for their work with The Telegraph Luxury, Aston Martin, and Gucci, brought their exceptional expertise to frame the bild 9 in an environment befitting its sophisticated design.
Design Inspiration
Creative director Bodo’s vision for Loewe focuses on infusing technological products with striking visual importance. For the bild 9, inspiration was drawn from modern architecture and art, particularly the linear, spatial sculptures of Fred Sandback, known for creating 3D forms from simple 2D lines. This influence guided the creation of a frame that seamlessly balances structure and elegance.
Conceptual Vision
The bild 9 redefines the role of the television in contemporary interiors. Moving away from the trend of ultra-thin, understated screens, we aimed to create a bold, sculptural centrepiece that integrates seamlessly into the luxury living space while delivering unparalleled technical performance.
The Loewe bild 9 is more than just a television; it’s a testament to how technology can enhance interior design, making it not just functional but a statement of artistry and innovation.
